Donnelly Fund

Although Donnelly Hospitality Management's (DHM) work with charities such as the BC Cancer Society, the Salvation Army and others dates back many years, the Donnelly Fund was officially founded in 2008. As a non profit organization, the Donnelly Fund began by assisting individual families in need through direct sponsorship. This hands-on approach eliminates administration and marketing fees to ensure that 100% of contributions are used solely for their intended purpose. Administered by Pattie Donnelly, the fund has quickly grown into a full-time project, developing new programs that give back to the many communities in which DHM's pubs and nightclubs operate, by supporting worthy causes.

As the company continues to grow, so does the importance and significance of the varied philanthropic efforts of each venue. With the help of family and business partners, Jeff Donnelly is expanding DHM's philanthropic programs to support several key charities-each particularly significant and important to him. Currently, DHM contributes 15 percent of its annual profits to the Donnelly Fund.

Today, the Donnelly Fund is committed to assisting individual families in crisis, helping them stay together through a monthly support program.

The Salvation Army is one of the world's largest and most trusted providers of social services, ensuring donations go directly to those in most urgent need. In 2002, DHM conducted the first of its now annual Christmas Toy Drives, benefitting the Salvation Army. The Annual Toy Drive has become one of the largest in the city, raising $28,000 worth of toys in 2008 for children in need. DHM challenges other companies to support this highly anticipated event, promoting goodwill within the company by encouraging staff to celebrate the holiday spirit of giving.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank helps feed up to 9,000 people each week in 15 depots located in the Lower Mainland. Aid is also provided to an additional 100 food-serving agencies that help an additional 16,000 individuals weekly. With the economy in a downturn and layoffs hitting families in B.C., the local food banks are faced with the prospect of increased demand and shortage in supplies.

Support of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation is important for all of the families in our province. Some of DHM's own staff members have had their children undergo procedures at the hospital, and providing support to continue important services for children in need of medical care is of critical importance.
